The Poland Board of Education introduced several new hires at the Board of Education Meeting on April 26. The hires include the Head High School Basketball Coach, Girls Head Varsity Girls Soccer Coach, District Transportation Coordinator, and Director of Operations.
Matt McKenzie, Director of Operations
Matt is a graduate of Springfield High School and received his undergraduate degree at Walsh University. He received his Business Manager, Business Management License from the Ohio Department of Education. He spent the last 24 years at Boardman Local Schools in a variety of roles, working his way through the ranks to the Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds, where he was responsible for all operational facets of the district and reporting directly to the Superintendent and Treasurer. Though his tenure at Boardman, he has experience in managing multi-million capital improvement projects, and played a pivotal role in the realignment of the district. Matt has extensive experience in construction management projects, maintenance projects, and has developed processes to improve efficiency in purchasing and procurement. Matt and his wife Mandy, who is a 1995 PSHS Graduate, live in Poland and have three children in the Poland Local Schools.
Megan Roemer, District Transportation Coordinator
Megan graduated from Boardman and earned her undergraduate degree at Youngstown State University. Megan has served in supervisory roles for the past eight years, and has served as the Food Service Director for the Poland Schools for the last four years. Megan and her husband are the proud parents of three children. Her oldest will start kindergarten in the fall of 2021 at McKinley Elementary.
Neil Huda, Head Varsity Girls Soccer Coach
Neil is a 1993 Graduate of Mineral Ridge High School. Neil and his wife Kelly are Poland residents, and the proud parents of Noah who is a sophomore at PSHS. Neil is employed by the US Postal Service. He is excited to take the helm of the girls soccer program at PSHS.
Eric Fender, Head High School Basketball Coach
Eric is a 2003 graduate of PSHS and received his undergraduate degree from Mount Union College and his Master’s Degree from Ashland University. Eric served as the Varsity Assistant to Coach Grisdale this past season. Coach Grisdale is retiring after 28 seasons of coaching. Eric was also the Varsity Assistant at Boardman High School, and served as the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach at Springfield High School for eight seasons, with an overall record of 138-47. He won five league titles and one District Title. Eric, his wife and children live in Poland.
