POLAND, Ohio - Superintendent Mr. Craig Hockenberry hosted the first Faith Advisory Council at Poland Local Schools on September 7, 2021. This is a new initiative by the superintendent created in an effort to develop ways that Poland Local Schools and the neighboring faith groups can collaborate to help our students. The group of faith leaders and Mr. Hockenberry will meet every two months to discuss plans and updates to meet our students' needs best. The next meeting will occur in early November. If you are a pastor interested participating in the Faith Advisory Council, please email Superintendent Mr. Hockenberry.

This month, the faith groups presented programs they are directing that are available to their communities and have positively impacted our students. Here are the latest updates from the churches/faith groups that positively impact our community:


Poland United Methodist Church

Kids Klub - Starting September 22, Poland UMC will be hosting Kids Klub afterschool program for students 3 years old - 6th grade. The program runs every Wednesday until December 1, 4:45-6:30pm. To learn more, email

Youth Program - Youth program will continue on September 22 as well.

CROP Hunger Walk - Join Team PUMC in the CROP Hunger Walk on October 10! A 1-3 mile walk takes place at Wick Park. This year’s funds raised by CROP participants will be allocated as follows: 75% to CWS' global hunger projects, 25% to supporting the hunger and poverty work of Protestant Family Service of the Greater Youngstown Area and ACTION, Inc /Flying High, Inc Mobile Market Initiative in the Mahoning Valley.

Poland Village Baptist Church

Word of Life Club - Word of Life Club is for kids from age 4 through 6th grade. There are Bible lessons, theme nights, games, service opportunities, Scripture memory, small groups and more! The cost is $32 for the year per child or $1 per child per club night. If you have three or more kids the total price is $64 for everyone. Of course no child is turned away if the cost is a financial burden. Register Here

Heritage Presbyterian Church

Trunk or Treat - October 24, 3pm. Come in your favorite costume to see what fun and spooky ways we decorated our trunks! There will be lots of treats and fun and we will safely celebrate Halloween with social distancing in mind. Everyone is welcome to join in on the fun! If you have questions, feel free to call our church office at 330-707-9031

Bethel Friends Church

Friends Club - Friends Club will begin on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2021 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. All children age 4 to grade 5 are welcome to attend. In addition to your online registration, you will be asked to complete an information/release form when your child comes to club. Face masks are encouraged but left to the discretion of the child’s parent or guardian. Register Here

Youth Ministry - Our youth ministry is focused on teaching our future generations about God and showing them how to build their own, personal relationship with Christ. This is open to all youth in 6th through 12th grades. We typically have game nights on Sunday nights from 6 – 7:30pm, which includes a group game, snacks, a devotional and some hang time. Wednesday evenings from 6 – 7:30pm, we have a Bible study.

Back to Church Weekend - Saturday service resumes September 18th as part of Back to Church Weekend, including service on September 19th as well.
