Dear Bulldog Class of 2020 and Families,
We hope everyone is doing well and staying safe during these very challenging times. Prior to Governor DeWine’s decision to keep schools closed for the remainder of the year, we had been working and preparing for the possibility of the closure for some time, however we did not want to make any premature decisions. Unfortunately, as we had been planning and discussing only for the possibility that the governor would close the schools for the year, that decision is now a reality. With the continuation of no large personal gatherings into the foreseeable future, we have had to put a few things on indefinite hold. Prom, picnics, etc. are not cancelled but indefinitely postponed at this time. If we are able to host such events in the near future, we will make sure to get the information to everyone ahead of time. We are heartbroken over all events and activities affected.
One event we have been working extremely hard to plan is commencement. We believe the Class of 2020 deserves a commencement celebration on the day Poland Seminary High School originally scheduled. With the governor’s address this week, he did not make us feel confident that we would be able to host a traditional commencement ceremony anytime soon (through summer or into the fall of this year). Yet we are committed to ensuring our graduates are able to celebrate this accomplishment with immediate family members. We are working on specific details and are planning for a live and safe ceremony. Due to the requirements, commencement will be different this year, however our ultimate goal is to honor the 2020 graduates of Poland Seminary High School in a memorable way. Mrs. Riley will be sending out the specifics this week in her yearly commencement mailer.
Friday Night Lights this Friday
Senior students will be able to take a final lap under the lights. Parents are permitted to park outside the stadium. The event will begin at 8:20 pm. Seniors will arrange in their cars behind the football locker room.
